The Macallan 12 Year Old Elegancia is a now-discontinued 1-litre travel-retail expression, bottled at 40% ABV. It is particularly interesting to collectors because it comes from an older style of Macallan and was matured using a combination of Oloroso and Fino sherry casks. Some editions were distilled in the early 1990s before being bottled after 12 years.
Why it's interesting
The Elegancia is particularly sought after because it is no longer produced and was originally aimed at the duty-free/travel-retail market. The combination of Oloroso and Fino maturation gives it a slightly different character from modern Macallan 12 expressions.
