This whisky is a close relative of our first exclusive bottle, which was so good it was a no brainier to pick up one of its siblings while it was still available!
The spirt is the same peated Bunnahabhain (Mòine) and although it’s now 6 months older, the big difference is the Oloroso seasoned American oak cask which gives quite a different experience to the previous PX seasoned European oak. Visibly darker, with more dense aromas on the nose, the extra time in the cask has mellowed the spirit just enough, making this a smoother, beautiful rich sherried peaty dram.
Tasting notes:
Nose: marzipan infused gingerbread men, stomping sticky dates, spiced pears, red grapes, and finely chopped celery at the remnants of a camp fire by the sea.
Palate: smoother than 59.2% suggests! Plum and raisin jam, peaty caramel with a pinch of chilli and Christmas spice.
Finish: a warm lasting fruity finish, with rich zingy lip smacking peat and spice.
